Welcome to the Film History Treasures Blog!

The primary intention of this site is to draw attention to DVD and Blu-ray releases that are in danger of being overlooked, particularly those relating to film and animation history. Although we are entering a period in which physical media is being challenged by streaming video, there are still many reasons to continue to seek out those shiny discs. I want to celebrate producers who are releasing important films – often with careful restoration and valuable extra features – that will almost certainly never appear on Netflix. I also want to highlight releases from countries like France, Italy and Japan that cater for English-speaking audiences, and which provide an opportunity to see films that are not currently available in the domestic marketplace.
